Ronald Reagan made history when he stood in front of the Berlin Wall and demanded,"Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!"
Reagan's admonition was based on his desire to do what was right for the people of Germany and the world. In time, Reagan's words and deeds brought about the tearing down of that wall,the end of the Red menace known as the Soviet Union, and victory for America in the Cold War.
In 2009, the American people need another courageous and bold move by the president.
This time, however, we need for our president to demand that a fence be built to prevent the flow of disease, poverty, drugs, and illegal aliens into America. That must be the first priority for President Obama after he shuts down the Mexican border.
There is no longer any question: Mexico is the incubator for a deadly new swine flu that could turn into a pandemic. The time for bowing to kings and coddling to Latin dictators is over--we need a leader who is capable of acting on behalf of America!
Ever so often, a national crisis or potential crisis is of such grave consequence that even a stray Democrat will cross over to the light side and employ common sense and good will on behalf of American citizens.
Such appears to be the case with regard to the swine flu virus from Mexico that is threatening to explode into a full-scale pandemic.

"The "swine flu" that has infected more than 1,000 people in Mexico has led a lawmaker on the House Homeland Security Committee to call on U.S. officials to close the southern border.
"Rep. Eric Massa (D-N.Y.) said the border should be closed until the threat is resolved.
"The public needs to be aware of the serious threat of swine flu, and we need to close our borders to Mexico immediately and completely until this is resolved," Massa said in a statement.
"I am making this announcement because I see this as a serious threat to the health of the American public and I do not believe this issue is receiving the attention it needs to have in the news," Massa said."
Bravo to Rep. Massa for having the courage and intelligence to do what is best for America. Placing American citizens first is the responsibility of all elected officials in this land, and it is about time that those holding office live up to their constitutional responsibility.

Coddling to Mexico and the illegal alien demographic that most Democrats worship is very dangerous and traitorous when American lives and property are in peril.
However, Rep. Massa's demand does not go quite far enough:
The borders with Mexico should be closed permanently with military force, and illegal aliens now in America should be rounded up and deported back to Mexico.
