President Barack Obama made some stunning remarks in his Cairo speech, as reported at chron.com, in part:

"In a gesture to the Islamic world, Obama conceded at the beginning of his remarks that tension “has been fed by colonialism that denied rights and opportunities to many Muslims, and a Cold War in which Muslim-majority countries were often treated as proxies without regard to their own aspirations.”
“And I consider it part of my responsibility as president of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear,” said the president, who recalled hearing prayer calls of “azaan” at dawn and dusk while living in Indonesia as a boy.
“Islam is not part of the problem in combatting violent extremism — it is an important part of promoting peace,” he said."
Islam is NOT part of the problem, sir? Perhaps you have not heard of the events of September 11, 2001?
It was in all the papers, even in Chicago, sir.
By the way, since when is it the responsibility of the President of the United States to fight for any religion?
Whatever happened to the revered "separation of church and state," as set forth in an undisclosed location deep wihin the bowels of the Constitution?
Seems to me as though this Obama fellow is taking on too many hats. Although his head is sufficiently large, his intellect may not be.
From handicapping the NAACP basketball finals for ESPN, to bankrupting the US auto industry AND the US treasury, to apologizing for everything that George W. Bush has ever said or done, President Obama has a full plate, indeed.
Now America's 44th president has appointed himself to the exalted position of Islam's ambassador to the world.
Where will it all end?
Among the hidden jewels in Obama's Cairo speech is his claim that
"Islam has a long tradition of tolerance."
Sorry American patriots, but technically speaking, Obama is right on this one.
Islam is tolerant to a fault when it comes to:
* Misogyny, leading to physical, emotional and sexual abuse of women
* Denying education and opportunities for self-sufficiency to women
* Educational materials and leaders that preach hatred of Jews
* Using children as suicide bombers
* Killing and maiming of infidels
* Policies that squelch free speech and Democracy
* Inhumane punishments such as beheading and removal of body parts
Once again, Barack Obama shows why being "clean and articulate" is not quite good enough!
