Happy Days Are Here Again?

By John W. Lillpop

The rousing song "Happy Days Are Here Again" is best remembered for being the campaign song of Franklin Roosevelt's 1932 presidential campaign.

Since then, the song has been the unofficial theme of the Democratic Party.

The lyrics suggest optimism and buoyancy:

So long sad times
Go long bad times
We are rid of you at last

Howdy gay times
Cloudy gray times
You are now a thing of the past

Happy days are here again
The skies above are clear again
So let's sing a song of cheer again
Happy days are here again

Altogether shout it now
There's no one
Who can doubt it now
So let's tell the world about it now
Happy days are here again

Your cares and troubles are gone
There'll be no more from now on
From now on ...

Happy days are here again
The skies above are clear again
So, Let's sing a song of cheer again

Happy times
Happy nights
Happy days
Are here again!

Amazingly enough, the Democrat rallying cry back then did not abuse the word CHANGE, and the audacity of hope was not mentioned at all. Even more notable, the lyrics do not blame W. for anything.

However, note please, that even back in 1932, Democrats were obsessed with the gay voting block!

Odd, is it not, that since the wrecking crew known as the Obama administration conquered the White House, buttressed by a leftist majority in both houses of Congress, the very notion that "Happy Days Are Here Again" is something that even the most deluded liberal recognizes as ludicrous.

What with the devastated economy, neutered war on terror effort, government seizure of the auto industry and financial institutions from the private sector, and anti-American rhetoric from the president himself, a more appropriate theme for contemporary Democrats would be, "Born to Lose!"

Still, despite the dreadful mess that Barack Obama has brought to the nation, mainstream media outlets continue to cover up for this very inept and dangerous man.

An example is found in a story titled, "US Loses Just 350,000 Jobs in May, Raising Hopes," at Yahoonews.com.

JUST 350,000 jobs lost is raising hopes? For whom?

I know of at least 350,000 folks who are not overwhelmed with hope--audacious or not--these days.

They join 14.5 million other unemployed Americans who have pushed the nation's jobless rate rose to a quarter-century high of 9.4 percent.

Raising hopes? Give me a bloody break!

Adding to the "Unhappy Days of Barack Obama" is the recent announcement by Microsoft as reported, in part, at Bloomberg.com:

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=ah5YH8sw_VzI

"June 3 (Bloomberg) -- Microsoft Corp. Chief Executive Officer Steven Ballmer said the world’s largest software company would move some employees offshore if Congress enacts President Barack Obama’s plans to impose higher taxes on U.S. companies’ foreign profits.

“It makes U.S. jobs more expensive,” Ballmer said in an interview. “We’re better off taking lots of people and moving them out of the U.S. as opposed to keeping them inside the U.S.”
So, if the Obama tax vision becomes law, Microsoft may end up "taking lots of people and moving them out of the U.S. as opposed to keeping them inside the U.S.”

Excuse me, Messrs. Obama and Geithner, just how in the hell is a "Progressive" tax policy that drives US corporations away from American soil the sort of CHANGE that the American people need?

As if this liberal foolishness is not depressing enough, consider the news coming from the office of Sir Teddy Kennedy, as reported by yahoo.news, in part:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090606/ap_on_go_co/us_health_overhaul_kennedy

"Employers would be required to offer health care to employees or pay a penalty — and all Americans would be guaranteed health insurance — under a draft bill circulated Friday by Sen. Edward M. Kennedy's health committee.

"The bill would provide subsidies to help poor people pay for care, guarantee patients the right to select any doctor they want and require everyone to purchase insurance, with exceptions for those who can't afford to."

Think of the sheer absurdity of this man's proposal in the context of today's reality:

Liberals have driven the automobile industry to bankruptcy by ramming labor unions and environmental nonsense down the throats of auto makers, 14.5 million American are unemployed, the unemployment rate is at a 25-year high of 9.4%, and major corporations like Microsoft are threatening to move off shore to avoid Obama-nomics.

Yet, this worn out old lefty from Massachusetts wants to make it even tougher on the only America institutions that actually create wealth and provide employment?

Clearly, Senator Kennedy no longer has the reasoning ability or logic needed to function in the US Senate.

Why not pack it in, Teddy, and allow some very well deserved CHANGE to bless your state?

Wake up America!

If liberals like Barack Obama, Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are not stopped and soon, America will be reduced to a holding cell for murderous terrorist from GITMO and as many illegal aliens as can be smuggled in.

Happy Days Are Here Again?

Not even close!
