What Moral Justification Exists for “Soaking” the Well-to-Do?

By John W. Lillpop

Quite apart from the endless debate over whether soaking the well-to-do helps or hinders the economy, there is a profound moral question which is conveniently overlooked by the Left.

Namely:

Exactly WHY should those with means be taxed at a higher rate than others?

And, from where does government derive the moral authority to discriminate against those with the talent and grit to prosper so emphatically?

Why is it not the passion of government to encourage, rather than punish, those who can prosper on their own without resorting to the public dole?

Moreover, consider the fact that the well-off do not use:

-Unemployment insurance
-Public schools
-Welfare
-Food stamps
-Housing assistance
-Student loans
-Public defenders
-Or a myriad of other services paid for by taxpayers.

Why, then, should those who use the least pay the most?

If anything, the well-to-do should be taxed at lower rates, excepting of course the lunatic millionaires who insist on being plundered to excess by tax evader Tim Geithner and his henchman at the IRS.

Delving even further into the abnormal psychology of the liberal- infested mind set, why do notorious lefties like Barack Obama, the Clintons, John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi, Oprah, and George Soros insist that the “rich” should be penalized for success?

The answer in two simple words: Liberal guilt.

Indeed, it seems only logical that lefties like Obama, Hillary, and Pelosi are awakened regularly in the middle of the night drowning in cold sweat brought on by harrowing guilt over their vast, undeserved fortunes.

Mind you, Marxists like Obama are perfectly justified in feeling shame and grave remorse over wealth achieved without accomplishment of any sort.

But why punish talented capitalists who HAVE earned their millions and billions?

Liberal wrong headiness has another moral pitfall: Those who steal from the well-to-do often waste stolen treasure to enrich illegal aliens, fund climate change hoaxes, or as one particularly demented Democrat proposed, to pay for escalation of the Afghanistan war.

Thus, guilt combined with a healthy dose of hate for the well-to-do can explain much of the “soak the rich” hysteria coming from the Democrats.

What is the solution?

Why not rewrite the tax law to include a “fool’s tax” to be paid by all Democrats with the audacity to earn more than $30,000 in any fiscal year?
