Border Deaths Enrage Mexico—When the Dead Are Mexican!

By John W. Lillpop

In the ongoing, but undeclared, war between Mexico and America, Mexico’s government and citizens are outraged that a Mexican teenager was shot and killed by a Border Patrol agent who was combating an invasion of illegal aliens by an “unknown number of people.”

As reported at apnews.com, in part:

CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico (AP) - Mexicans are seething over the second death of a countryman at the hands of U.S. Border Patrol agents in two weeks, an incident near downtown El Paso that is threatening to escalate tensions over migrant issues.

U.S. authorities said Tuesday a Border Patrol agent was defending himself and colleagues when he fatally shot the 15-year-old as officers came under a barrage of big stones while trying to detain illegal immigrants on the U.S. side of the Rio Grande.

About 30 relatives and friends gathered late Tuesday to mourn Sergio Adrian Hernandez Huereka, whose shooting Monday evening came along the border with Texas. He died on the Mexican side of the river.

"Damn them! Damn them!" sobbed Rosario Hernandez, sister of the dead teenager, at a wake in the family's two-room adobe house on the outskirts of Ciudad Juarez.

Preliminary reports on the incident indicated that U.S. officers on bicycle patrol "were assaulted with rocks by an unknown number of people."

Condolences, but not apologies, are in order for the family and friends of Sergio Adrian Hernandez Huereka

However, before condemning the Border Patrol agent, remember that he was acting in self-defense and he was being assaulted by invaders who have no moral or legal basis for being in America. He was simply doing his job.

Mexicans also need to remember the story of Robert Krentz, a decent American man who was murdered in cold blood on his own property in Arizona by an illegal alien from Mexico.

How much mourning do you suppose Rosario Hernandez offered for Robert Krentz, a gringo?

If Hernandez really cares about the death of her beloved brother, she should direct her anger and "Damn them! Damn them!" rhetoric at the people who can prevent the murder of Mexicans at the border.

That would be Mexican President Felipe Calderon and the Mexican government which refuses to respect American sovereignty and rule of law.

"Damn them! Damn them!" is a perfectly valid cry-- when aimed at Felipe Calderon and his third-world government who refuse to keep Mexican citizens from illegally crossing the border.
