House Vote Affirms: War on Women Alive and Well

By John W. Lillpop

Attention: Feminists and all others concerned about an alleged "War on Women (WOW)" in the US body politic!

As reported at the reference, last week the US House rejected an attempt to outlaw abortions based on the sex of the fetus, thereby confirming that there IS indeed a war being waged against women.

However, contrary to distortions advanced by the liberal media, this particular travesty is mostly a mainstay of Democrats, not Republicans, as has been advertised.

The report, in part:

WASHINGTON — The House on Thursday fell short in an effort to ban abortions based on the sex of the fetus as Republicans and Democrats made an election-year appeal for women's votes.

The legislation would have made it a federal crime to perform or force a woman to undergo a sex-based abortion, a practice most common in some Asian countries where families wanting sons abort female fetuses.

"It is violence against women," said Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., of abortions of female fetuses. "This is the real war on women."

"The use of abortion for sex selection has created a 21st century holocaust for unborn girls," said Rep. John Carter, R-Round Rock.
The White House, most Democrats, abortion rights groups and some Asian American organizations opposed the bill, saying it could lead to racial profiling of Asian American women and subject doctors who don't report suspected sex-selection abortions to criminal charges.

"The administration opposes gender discrimination in all forms, but the end result of this legislation would be to subject doctors to criminal prosecution if they fail to determine the motivations behind a very personal and private decision," White House spokeswoman Jamie Smith said in a statement.

"The government should not intrude in medical decisions or private family matters in this way."

How about that for breaking news?

An instance where the Obama Administration and Congressional Democrats actually oppose conferring additional powers in the hands of the federal government?

Unfortunately, the Democrats’ position supports the ugly, immoral practice of profiling on the basis of gender, for the express purpose of extermination!

Since 99 out of 100 gender-based abortions are carried out to kill female fetuses, how can the practice be regarded as anything but an unmitigated "War on women"?

After all, regardless of how "personal and private," murder is still murder!

Further thought: Science will surely someday discover a manner for determining the sexual orientation of an unborn fetus.

When that technological capability becomes reality, how supportive will Democrats be of expectant parents who choose, on a personal and private way, to abort a gay fetus, just because of sexual orientation?
