Whither Joe Biden’s “Patriotism” When It Comes to HIS Money?

By John W. Lillpop

During the 2008 presidential campaign, Vice-presidential candidate Joe Biden startled politicians by declaring that paying higher taxes was somehow an act of patriotism.

"We want to take money and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people," Biden said in a television interview aired in August of 2008. Biden expanded on that notion by saying, "It's time to be patriotic ... time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut."

However, there is apparently a limit to Biden’s patriotic philanthropy, particularly when it involves HIS money.

As reported by the Washington Times, in part:

“Federal election regulators on Thursday ruled that President Obama's campaign can transfer money to Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr.'s short-lived 2008 presidential campaign, which doesn't have enough in the bank to pay off more than $200,000 in election fines.”

What’s up with that, Mr. Veep?

Why not set an example by writing a personal check to the U.S. Treasury to atone for YOUR election sins?

Now THAT would be the patriotic thing to do, sir!
