Obama to Issue Executive Order to Ban Mental Illness?

By John W. Lillpop

Monday’s massacre at the Washington Navy Yard has Barack Obama once again reaching for his Executive Order pad as he desperately searches for a solution to the outbreak of slaughters on US military bases, Monday’s tragedy almost certainly a repeat of the misnamed “workplace violence” at Fort Hood in 2009.

Workplace violence? Yep, that is the only viable description for the carnage in Washington, since the war on terror has long been over, at least in Obama’s very confused mind.

Executive Orders are clever devices used by presidents who have zero leadership skills. They are perfect for shoving the Constitution and the US Congress aside in order to implement an untalented tyrant’s dangerous agenda.

But can Executive Orders stop mental illness?

As reported at the reference, that is what appears to have driven Aaron Alexis to gun down 12 innocent Americans, an act which finally cost Alexis his own life:

WASHINGTON (AP) -- U.S. law enforcement officials are telling The Associated Press that the Navy contractor identified as the gunman in the mass shootings at the Washington Navy Yard had been suffering a host of serious mental issues, including paranoia and a sleep disorder. He also had been hearing voices in his head, the officials said.

Aaron Alexis, 34, had been treated since August by the Veterans Administration for his mental problems, the officials said. They spoke on condition of anonymity because the criminal investigation in the case was continuing. The Navy had not declared him mentally unfit, which would have rescinded a security clearance that Alexis had from his earlier time in the Navy Reserves.

Family members told investigators that Alexis was being treated for his mental issues.”

Obama may be slick as silk and smooth as whipped cream, but it is doubtful that yet another dumb EO will change anything.

Or do you suppose that Aaron Alexis would have not done his dastardly deed if Obama had only issued an EO prohibiting the use of guns by those suffering from mental infirmity?
