What About Fast and Furious, Mr. President?

By John W. Lillpop

The inevitable death of Libyan dictator Gaddafi is good, if very belated, news. This was supposed to happen in “days, not weeks,” and certainly before seven months.

Now that the dirty work is done, Americans can expect Barack Obama to be front and center in order to take bows and lead those cheering his own adulation. Leading from behind is terrific while there is still risk and uncertainty; hogging the credit when the job is done is more in keeping with Obama’s narcissistic whimsy.

And while the mainstream media will surely celebrate Gaddafi’s death as confirmation of Obama’s grand strategy, responsible journalists will ask, “What about Fast and Furious?”

Indeed, while Gaddafi was a brutal terrorist and murdering thug, we must not lose sight of the fact that the Obama administration deliberately walked guns into the hands of a violent drug cartel in Mexico, a despicable act that cost an American border patrol agent his life.

Only an out-of-touch community organizer would find comfort in Gaddafi’s demise while the crimes of Eric Holder and Barack Obama remain unresolved.
