For many conservatives, the Drudge Report has been the “go to” source for escaping mainstream media news and what is generally perceived as the liberal, non-traditional values bias in the media.
After all, it was Matt Drudge who made Monica Lewinsky a household name in 1998, famous for cavorting with then President Bill Clinton in a little room off the Oval Office, whilst First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton did whatever it is that congenital liars do to while away the hours elsewhere in the White House.
Sixteen years later, Drudge is headlining sensational news, once again.
This time, the May 11(Mother’s Day) Drudge Report featured a dramatic photo of Michael Sam and his male lover sharing a celebratory kiss just after Sam was drafted by the St. Louis Rams football team to become the first openly gay football player to be drafted by a professional team.
The big question in all this: Does the Michael Sam photo and story mark the end of critical conservative news reporting, or is it merely the latest example of a society in the throes of earth-shattering evolution?
