Without 2nd Amendment, What Would Be Left of the Cliven Bundy Ranch?

By John W. Lillpop

Although the federal government has finally retreated from the Bundy ranch in Nevada without inflicting or suffering serious injury or fatalities, the episode should sound a loud wake-up call to Americans queasy about the 2nd Amendment and the right of citizens to bear arms.

Make no mistake about it. The Nevada showdown was about far more than illegal cattle grazing.

Indeed, at stake was the abuse of power by a tyrannical president whom often does not respect the rule of law, the US Constitution, or the US Congress which, much to the chagrin of that president, is empowered by the Constitution as an equal partner in the role of governance.

Tyrannical power versus the right of American citizens to own private property.

Tyrannical power versus the liberty and freedom of a society in which the government governs at the consent of the governed.

What would have been the outcome had there been no 2nd Amendment rights to protect the patriots whom opposed the government invasion of private property?

The 2nd Amendment right of citizens to “keep and bear arms” forced fuzzy- thinking government bureaucrats to retreat as reported:

"Based on information about conditions on the ground, and in consultation with law enforcement, we have made a decision to conclude the cattle gather because of our serious concern about the safety of employees and members of the public," BLM Director Neil Kornze said.

Without a 2nd Amendment, it is doubtful that the belligerent Obama government would have acted to avoid “serious concern about the safety of employees and members of the public."

God Bless the 2nd Amendment!
