On the heels of the Marxist health-care fiasco (ObamaCare) for which the Obama Administration has been forced to issue more than 1,000 waivers, another failed federal program is causing state government to seek relief.
This time the offending legislation is the “No Child Left Behind” bill signed into law by Republican President George W. Bush.
As reported at the reference:
WASHINGTON -- More than a dozen states are expected to take advantage of the Obama administration's offer for more flexibility under No Child Left Behind, as the number of schools deemed "failing" under the almost decade-old law continues to grow.A message to Congress and our Marxist-in-chief:
By next month, federal officials will issue rules to states interested in seeking a waiver from some of the law's most punitive provisions, Education Secretary Arne Duncan said.
One of those provisions is a requirement that all schools demonstrate "adequate yearly progress," or AYP, on reading and math tests by 2014 or face possible closure.
At least a dozen states besides Wisconsin -- Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia -- have contacted the administration about getting a waiver or plan to do so, said Gene Wilhoit, of the Council of Chief State School Officers, which represents state education officials.”
Stop passing stupid laws that cannot be implemented! Let the states and local governments manager their own health and education systems!
The formula for success is: Less federal government!
Period.
